Throwback Thursday photo from 1930 inside the Miller office. The woman featured in the photo is Eltea Eppright Armstrong, Miller Imaging's first female draftsperson and aerial map complier. She later went on to draft for the State of Texas General Land Office (see other photos). It’s remarkable to look back at how Miller Imaging began more than a century ago.

Throwback to 1950 with a Miller Imaging staff photo. 76 years ago, no casual Fridays, no t-shirts, just ties straightened and hair perfect. Most of these employees stayed at Miller Imaging the rest of their careers, talk about loyalty. These are the people who helped build the foundation we still stand on today. Word of mouth has it, that we had the first female draftsman in the state.

Miller Imaging’s Featured Artist-Louise Schroeder grew up on a large family farm near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In her twenties, she worked as a nurse, escaping the long, cold prairie winters by traveling to warmer climates around the world. These journeys led to unforgettable adventures that continue to inspire her art. Largely self-taught for much of her career, Louise later refined her skills through formal fine arts study. Working with acrylics on watercolor paper, she creates pieces that reflect her love of travel, storytelling, and imagination. Her whimsical, vibrant style transports viewers into colorful, faraway worlds-no passport required. Louise has exhibited her work in numerous shows in Canada and the United States.

 Yard Signs Austin 

So summer fun for these kids means All*Star Baseball through the month of June! A customer called to ask if we could help with the outdoor yard signs and a colorful banner highlighting all of the players -and we did! It is always fun to do something outside the normal signage we enjoy!  These Flying Chanclas are a young group of players from Liberty Hill, and we will the the best summer fun ever! Team sports have kept many kids occupied in the summer! If you represent a team needing signage, please reach out!

 Miller Imaging serving Austin since 1920

Since our beginning in 1920, we have been known for blueprints - That has never changed. Artwork – again, interesting how that has come full circle!

Miller Blueprint opened on Congress Avenue in 1920, when blueprints were a wet process. The prints literally hung over Congress Avenue on a clothesline! The second home of Miller Blueprint is this building located steps away from Congress Avenue on East 10th Street. We remained here until the 1969 move to 501 West 6th Street. (You may’ve seen the social post of the original neon sign with the woman briskly walking up the hill on 10th Steet in her plaid cape and heels – same building, different storefront!)

In this early version we evidently sold typewriters and later moved on to the Friden-Alcatel calculators… cutting edge 50-lb metal boxes with keys and handles to pull! This image made for a great Throw Back Thursday pic.

Jesse Sublett has been influential force in Austin culture since the late 1970s, when he was a founding member of The Skunks and The Violators, Austin’s first two punk bands. Many of the first punk gig flyers in Austin featured Jesse’s graphics, an outgrowth of his adolescent ambition to become a famous cartoonist and poet.
